Get Active for an Illinois Single-Payer Health System

There are lots of ways you can help the movement for a single-payer health system in Illinois. Health Care for All Illinois activists have a wide array of individual talents and experience. If you’re just getting started, you may find it helpful to read the PNHP handout “Finding you Niche in Activism.” (pdf)

What You Can Do

  • Stay in Touch with Health Care for All Illinois by joining our mailing list.


  • Tell the General Assembly to support the Health Care for All Illinois Act (HB 311). You can use our quick-and-easy online advocacy tool to find your representatives and send them a customized letter.


  • Educate yourself about single-payer national health insurance with the HCAI website resources and HCAI slideshow.


  • Invite a HCAI speaker to speak to your community group about single-payer.


  • Pass a resolution in your community, church, labor, professional or civic group endorsing HB 311. A sample resolution is available here.


  • Organize a meeting with your legislators. Tell your state senator and representatives that you support the Health Care for All Illinois Act (HB 311), and they should too.

  • Write an op-ed or letter to the editor of your local news publications. PNHP has a handout with tips.
